Brian Freed

Executive Director

Brian Freed, PhD, F(ACHI) has over 30 years of experience and over 80 publications in the fields  of stem cell banking and histocompatibility. He is a member of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, AABB, the American Society of Transplantation, and the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Freed is a diplomate of the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.

Christina Roark

Associate Director

Christina Roark, PhD, F(ACHI) is Associate Director of ClinImmune and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Christina (Tina) received her PhD in Immunology from the University of Colorado in 1995 and her post-doctoral research focused on autoimmune diseases, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. She joined ClinImmune in the fall of 2012 to continue her research in autoimmune disorders. She is a member of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics and received her board certification in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics in 2017. Her clinical duties include reviewing recipient and donor HLA typings, antibody profiles, crossmatch results and performing searches to find unrelated or cord blood donors.  Her current research is focused on CRISPR gene editing of the HLA-DR molecule as a therapy for rheumatoid arthritis.

Louise Helander

Medical Director

Louise Helander, M.B.B.S., FASCP, FCAP is a board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist specializing in transfusion medicine.  Dr. Helander provides medical oversight to the laboratories within ClinImmune, as well as consultation services both within the laboratories and to ClinImmune clients.

Sandra Fradenburg

Chief Operating Officer

Sandra Fradenburg began her career at ClinImmune with her primary focus and responsibilities dedicated to the University of Colorado Cord Blood Bank transplant search and release department and later moved to the oversight of the umbilical cord blood and tissue collection program.  With her movement to Chief Operating Officer Sandra has expanded her role to include business and personnel management, contracting, and facility planning and operations.

Gina Wedermyer

Serology Laboratory Director

Gina Wedermyer, BS, CHS has worked at ClinImmune for 20 plus years focusing primarily on antibody identification and flow cytometric crossmatching. Gina began her career as a student worker with the lab. She has held positions as a lab technologist, supervisor, Director of Patient Services and finally moving into her current role as Director of Serology. She is a member of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics with a Certified Histocompatibility Specialist. Gina received a BS in Biology from Metropolitan State University of Denver. 

Michael Aubrey

Director of DNA Typing

Michael Aubrey, MS, CHS provides research and clinical clients expertise in HLA typing, donor searching, and research support. Mr. Aubrey works closely with multiple stem cell transplant programs throughout the recipient evaluation and donor search process. He oversees the release report process of final histocompatibility (including KIR matching) for donors. He has published in haploidentical donor selection, epitope scoring for post-transplant DSA risk assessment, and HLA disease association.

Catherine Winters

Director of Regulatory Affairs

Catherine Winters, MBA, MT(ASCP) joined ClinImmune in 2018 after spending over twenty years in the clinical laboratory and transfusion medicine. With transfusion medicine being the forerunner of cellular therapies and the most highly regulated area of the clinical laboratory, involvement with the FDA, CAP, AABB, and other accreditation agencies has been a constant part of her career. Catherine holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology and is board certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Catherine is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks and has served as an inspector for the College of American Pathologists.

Sabine Stockinger

Director of Stem Cell Laboratories

Sabine Stockinger, BS has 13 years’ experience of in managing the University of Colorado Cord Blood Bank and ClinImmune Stem Cell GMP Laboratories with in-depth knowledge in processing and cryopreservation of Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells for banking and human transplantation under current good manufacturing practice (cGMP).  She oversees new cell therapy treatments and studies, the development of cell lines for tissue regeneration in diabetic wound care using FDA accepted techniques and protocols.  In addition she has 8 years of research experience in the Helmhotz Center (National Research Center for Environment and Health) and Max Planck Institute in Germany mainly in cancer research.

Stephanie Warnell

Coordinator of Cellular Therapy

Stephanie Warnell, BS, CHS began her career with ClinImmune Labs in December 1999. In that time, she has worked as a technologist in the HLA Lab, assistant supervisor of the HLA lab and in 2005 moved into a role with the cord blood bank. Stephanie’s primary focus is the search and release of banked cord blood units while also offering support to the stem cell lab. She is a member of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics with a Certified Histocompatibility Specialist certification. Stephanie received her BS in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas.
